How To Get High Speed In 3G Connections
3G signals are generally weak, they can't penetrate buildings and other obstacles. In order to ensure a reliable connection, your modem will automatically swap between different network modes (GPRS, EDGE, 3G, HSDPA, WCDMA) depending on which is providing the strongest signal. If you're not moving around much, these mode changes are generally not required and will usually result in a slow browsing experience.
For example, you may be receiving a very strong GPRS signal (slow mode) but a much weaker HSDPA signal(fast mode). Your modem may automatically swap you over to the GPRS mode to ensure you don't get disconnected if you move around too much (ie in a car). If however you're in a static location (your house of a coffee shop) then it would be safe to remain connected in HSDPA mode and would result in a much faster browsing experience.
You need to adjust the preferences of your modem from within your connection software. You should see an option which says "3G Only", "HSDPA Only" or "WCDMA Only". Select one of these options and your connection will no longer swap over to the slower networks.
Bare in mind that if you're moving around a lot (ie in a car) then you'll want to allow the modem to automatically swap between network modes in order to give you the most reliable connection.
This simple change can instantly improve the reliability and speed up your Globe Tattoo or Smartbro browsing experience. It can also help with disconnections from yahoo messenger or MSN messenger which can sometimes occur when your modem is swapping between different network modes.
